How do I prevent the whiteheads that I sometimes get after waxing?

Believe it or not, this is a very common reaction for men with sensitive skin or coarse hair and deep roots. The technical term is folliculitis, and for the most part it only happens the first couple of times you wax.  At-home care is extremely important and we recommend taking home a bottle of ingrown hair serum to further prevent any breakouts from occurring. 

 

 

I’m concerned, if I get aroused during my wax…what happens?

We’re adults and professionals at The Wax Den (we expect our guests to act like adults as well). We are well aware that erections can happen as a nervous response. Don’t sweat it! Honestly, we won’t acknowledge it anyway.

Is male bikini waxing really a thing? What is involved in a Manzilian?

Yes! Men, both straight and gay, are opting to stay sexy by getting waxed regularly.  Some have partners who prefer it, others love to feel clean and many athletes need those areas bare for hygiene and safety reasons.  Like female bikini waxing, it is a perfectly acceptable form of grooming. Now, there can be some discomfort associated with waxing (see preparation tips below). No need to be worried as our experts are well trained and have a loyal male guest following.

How to Prepare for Your Manzilian Wax

• Please shower before your appointment.

• Hair must be a quarter of an inch (2-3 weeks of growth) for the best outcome. This is particularly important for the scrotum area where hair tends to grow at a slower rate.

• Resist the urge to shave between appointments. Shaving chafes the skin and creates coarser hair.

• Gently exfoliate the bikini line the night before your wax. This will keep ingrown hairs at bay.

• It WILL get better. We get that first timers don’t know what to expect, but acknowledge that the first wax will be the most uncomfortable, especially if you’re used to shaving. Most of our guests leave our studio relieved that the experience was so amazing and not nearly as bad as they expected.

• If you are overly concerned about the potential pain, its has been said that ibuprofen 20 minutes before your appointment may help.
